Primary Verses:

  1. Ex. 17:14

    • "And YHVH said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven."

  2. Ex. 31:16-18

    • "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.  It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days YHVH made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.  And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God."

Supporting Verses:

  1. Deut. 27:1-3
    • "And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.  And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:  And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which YHVH thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as YHVH God of thy fathers hath promised thee."

  2. Deut. 27:8-10

    • "And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.  And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of YHVH thy God.  Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of YHVH thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day."

  3. Deut. 31:9-13
    • "And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of YHVH, and unto all the elders of Israel.  And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,  When all Israel is come to appear before YHVH thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.  Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear YHVH your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:  And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear YHVH your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it."

  4. Deut. 31:24-26
    • "And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,  That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of YHVH, saying,  Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of YHVH your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee."

  5. Joshua 8:32-35
    • "And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.  And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of YHVH, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of YHVH had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.  And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.  There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them."

  6. Joshua 24:25-26
    • "So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.  And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of YHVH."
