Primary Verses:

  1. Deuteronomy 4:9-10

    • "Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;  Specially the day that thou stoodest before YHVH thy God in Horeb, when YHVH said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children."

  2. Deuteronomy 6:20-25

    • "And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which YHVH our God hath commanded you?  Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and YHVH brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:  And YHVH shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:  And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.  And YHVH commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear YHVH our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.  And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before YHVH our God, as he hath commanded us."

  3. Exodus 10:2

    • "And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am YHVH."

  4. Exodus 12:25-27

    • "And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which YHVH will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.  And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?  That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of YHVH's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped."

Supporting Verses:

  1. Exodus 13:14

    • "And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand YHVH brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:"

  2. Joshua 4:21-24

    • "And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?  Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.  For YHVH your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as YHVH your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:  That all the people of the earth might know the hand of YHVH, that it is mighty: that ye might fear YHVH your God for ever."

  3. Psalms 78:4-6

    • "We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of YHVH, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.  For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:  That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:"

  4. Psalms 78:1-7

    • "Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.  I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:  Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.  We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of YHVH, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.  For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:  That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:  That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:"

  5. Ephesians 6:4

    • "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
