Exodus 21:7-11
-
"And if a man sell his daughter
to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the
menservants do. If she please not her master, who hath
betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be
redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall
have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with
her. And if he have betrothed her unto his son,
he shall deal with
her after the manner of daughters. If
he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her
duty of marriage, shall he not diminish. And if he do
not these three unto her, then shall she go out free
without money."

Genesis 24:49-58

"And now if ye will deal kindly
and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me;
that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left. Then
Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing
proceedeth from YHVH: we cannot speak unto thee bad or
good. Behold,
Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be
thy master's son's wife, as YHVH hath spoken.
And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard
their words, he worshipped YHVH, bowing himself to the
earth. And the servant brought forth jewels of silver,
and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to
Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother
precious things. And they did eat and drink, he and the
men that were with him, and tarried all night; and they
rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto
my master. And her brother and her mother said, Let the
damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after
that she shall go. And he said unto them, Hinder me
not, seeing YHVH hath prospered my way; send me away
that I may go to my master. And they said, We will call
the damsel, and enquire at her mouth. And they called
Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man?
And she said, I will go."

Genesis 29:15-22
-
"And Laban said unto Jacob,
Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore
serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?
And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was
Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. Leah was
tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well
favoured. And Jacob
loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years
for Rachel thy younger daughter. And
Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than
that I should give her to another man: abide with me.
And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed
unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
And Jacob said unto
Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that
I may go in unto her. And Laban gathered together all
the men of the place, and made a feast."
