5. 2 Samuel 15:7-9

   • "And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto YHVH, in Hebron.  For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If YHVH shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve YHVH.  And the king said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron."

   • "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.  Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay."
